Lavender English Orpingtons are our passion at Our Little Roost, and they were the first variety we began breeding. We have worked diligently to improve feather quality within in our lavender flock, resulting in large, fluffy, and stunning birds. We have found that English Orpingtons are a truly dual-purpose breed, unmatched in size and quality compared to Orpingtons from a hatchery. Our hens lay large eggs, are wonderful mother hens, and we have complete trust in our roosters around our children. Their gentle and docile disposition makes them perfect for families looking for a friendly and beautiful addition to their flock.
This season, we have two breeding groups that produce lavender offspring. Our largest group consists of a lavender rooster over lavender hens, all first-generation offspring from black-split to lavender. Our second group is a lavender cockerel over black-split to lavender hens. As a large breed, English Orpingtons require feed with a high protein content to support their growth after transitioning from chick starter grower.
